FPL Classic GW 3: Man United Sneeze from a Cold Breeze

Derek’s Cole Fired Power (GW 57 / 1st, Total 176 / 1st) (Wildcarded)

America has attacked wind energy, ordering Orsted, a Danish energy company, to stop construction on an offshore wind project.

The focus has been redirected into coal/Cole Fired Palmer wildcarding into a refreshed and rejuvenated line up, powering up to the best score of the week both on field (57) and bench (16), breezing his way into first.

Sandra’s SZ (GW 22 / Last, Total 117 / Last)

At the other end of the league, Sandra abandoned Cole Palmer (DNP) for Johnson (1) and was so blown away by Man United losing to Grimsby Town that she fielded Esteve (1, $4.0m) over Wirtz (3, $8.4m).

Clearly swept up in wind energy, she also tops the season’s bench points with 33, winding up with all the wrong stat achievements.

Duy’s Duzor (GW 44 / 5th, Total 174 / 2nd)

Not to be outdone by Sandra, Duy looks to have taken a page out straight out of her playbook from last year’s triumph.

“A hit a week builds the team technique.”

Gvardiol (DNP) to Livramento (6) and Baleba (1) to Ndoye (1) felt like a relatively neutral move, but digging a little deeper reveals the sting.

Had Duzor stuck with his original GW1 squad, he’d be sitting on 187 points, meaning his transfers have cost him a net 13 points.

Maybe active management isn’t the way to go?

Vu’s Laser (GW 50 / 2nd, Total 132 / 5th)

Now we come to Vu, the Baddy League’s leading advocate of passive management.

Haaland (9) third on the bench? No problem, O’Riley (DNP), Ballard (DNP) and Robertson (DNP) and he’s straight onto the field.

Captain Isidor (16)? No worries, only 25 minutes played with a goal scored and it gets the job done.

Maybe the less you do, the better you do?

Brian’s The Liabilities (GW 45 / 4th, Total 147 / 3rd)

o7 Saka (DNP) was swapped for Elanga (1) this week, who started on the bench and only played 28 minutes. It’s ok, Derek is right there with you.

Brian made the adjustment to put Esteve (1) ahead of Gudmundsson (9), and once again fell on the wrong side of the coin. That’s now a net loss of 15 points over 2 weeks. Oof.

While Brian may be struggling to bench 15kg of FPL points, he’s more than making up for it with captain Bruno (20), the best captaincy pick in the Baddy League this week.

Keven’s The Assets (GW 50 / 3rd, Total 142 / 4th)

My Assets are below the Liabilities both in FPL points and in the newsletter.

Operation target Aston Villa: Sarr (7) and Mateta (5) was not a success.

Top weekly score tracker: Duy’s Duzor with 86 in GW 1.

Keep well and stay swell~
