FPL GW 1: Dan Dazzles, Bench Boost Bedazzled
Dan’s New team 9 (GW 82 / 1st, Total 82 / 1st) (Bench Boost)
Dan opens the season with a 21 point bench boost, giving him a 34 point lead over the majority of the Baddy League. Dan's nifty moves included the selection of Palmer (13) over Bruno (2) and having the best goalkeeper combo of Raya (6) and Verbruggen (6).
Foregoing Bruno meant doubling up on Man United defence with opening fixtures of Hull and Ipswich, only for Man United to lose to Hull. Everyone in the Baddy League tripled up on Man United assets other than myself, so Dan didn't lose out much in the FPL side of things.
Derek’s Lacroix-ing out loud (GW 69 / 2nd, Total 69 / 2nd) (Bench Boost)
Both bench boost believers delivered successful 20+ point benches to immediately create a gap over the rest of the Baddy League. Derek opted for Brobbey (2) and Gomez (6) over the more commonly selected DCL (1) and Groß (2), and both these small decisions resulted in small advantages.
Only rolling with one Chelsea asset in JP (11) to start the season, Derek won't be letting his Chelsea bias impact his Classic team.
Keven's defconsistent (GW 48 / 3rd, Total 48 / 3rd)
I've unveiled my strategy for this season, and it's to focus on points through defensive contributions. I'm already regretting my decision because it's a terrible football viewing experience and my Baddy League differentials in Scott (2), Hill (1) and Collins (6) all missed out on those 2 sweet defcon points.
Duy’s Duzor (GW 47 / 4th, Total 47 / 4th)
Duy started the season with two Arsenal defenders in Konsa and Hincapie, only for neither to receive the clean sheet points from Arsenal's 3-0 win over Coventry. To make matters worse, Cash subbed in for Konsa with a -1 pointer. In better news, Duy's midfield of Rogers (8), Cherki (8) and Xhaka (9) compensated for his team's poor defensive performance.
Differential Duy will be having high variance weeks in the future, as all 6 players mentioned above are not owned by anyone else in the Baddy League.
Brian’s BurnBabyBurn (GW 47 / 5th, Total 47 / 5th)
Brian started the weekend strong with Calafiori (9) and Tzolis (6), but it wasn't so great from then on out. The double up on Calafiori and Tzolis is owned by everyone aside from Duy and myself, and both of us own neither. Duy, let it be known that I have joined you in the depths of differentials.
Over the weekend, Spurs got rolled by Brentford for a Van Hecke 1 pointer, Semenyo (2) got double teamed by Bournemouth every time he tried to make a play, and MGW (2) could not get it done against Leeds.
Sandra’s SZ (GW 41 / Last, Total 41 / Last)
Sandra is operating on the anti-Liverpool agenda once again, skipping out on Szoboszlai (8) in favour of Semenyo (2). It almost would have been fine as well if it weren't for that 90 minute penalty.
Sunderland lost to Ipswich for a Ballard donut, popular pick Groß (2) didn't participate in any of the 4 goals scored against Villa, and Kinsky (2) was not the best $4.5m goalkeeper of the bunch.
