FPL GW 2: Bruno Spreads Points Galore
Derek’s Lacroix-ing out loud (GW 105 / 4th, Total 174 / 1st)
It only took 2 gameweeks for Derek to take the top spot in the Baddy League, all thanks to captaining Bruno for 46 points. It was looking stressful when Haaland opened the gameweek with 13 points, only for Bruno to deliver what felt like a top 10 performance of all time within a single gameweek.
The only concern for Derek right now is being a victim of daylight Brobbery (2) from Sunderland, having points stolen from him every week thus far.
Dan’s New team 9 (GW 88 / 5th, Total 170 / 2nd)
It was looking like a mighty fine weekend for Dan before the Man United match. Not only did Dan not own Bruno, he was doubled up on Man United defence conceding 2 goals against Ipswich. In brighter news, Man United successfully rebounded from last gameweek with a dominant win.
Keven's defconsistent (GW 108 / 3rd, Total 156 / 3rd)
Looks like I have a leading contender for my MaScott, receiving 12 points from someone I originally intended to collect 4 points week in week out through defensive contributions. Anti-PODding Calafiori with 20 points in the first 2 gameweeks has been a mistake on my part for now, and Duy's.
Duy’s Duzor (GW 108 / 2nd, Total 155 / 4th)
The trio of Cherki (14), Rogers (5) and Xhaka (6) go back to back weeks in carrying Duy's disappointing defence, consisting of double Man United and Konsa (1). Duy did however make one excellent improvement by moving on his favourite Arsenal defender in Hincapie (DNP) to his favourite Man City defender in Gvardiol (5).
Sandra’s SZ (GW 111 / 1st, Total 152 / 5th)
Last season, it took us until double gameweek 33 to score above 100 points in one gameweek, only for 4 of us to already surpass that threshold by gameweek 2, with Sandra rising above all of us with 111 points.
Even in what mathematically is a perfect gameweek, small decisions such as captaining Haaland over Bruno for a net loss of 10 points does feel like a dampener. What's more concerning is Spurs' Kinsky (1) looking shambolic in defence. Dare I say they might be fighting in the relegation battle again this season.
Brian’s BurnBabyBurn (GW 73 / Last, Total 120 / Last)
Bad luck Brian has a team that seems reasonable on paper, but they just dodge points like you would dodge a wrench. Van Hecke (1) from Spurs was the only clear miss thus far.
Maybe it's time to hop onto some Newcastle bias with one of Hall (11), Dedic (11) or Thiaw (6) in defence, or Elanga (8) and Wissa (8) in attack. They have plenty of selectable options, which is more than we expected in the preseason.
