FPL GW 23: Barry Potter and the Chamber of Differentials
Derek’s Cole Fired Power (GW 40 / 4th, Total 1,333 / 1st)
An off week for Derek, but the Baddy League fails to capitalise.
Rogers (8), Andersen (8) and Guehi (6) carried the load while triple Arsenal suddenly isn’t looking too good after conceding 3 goals for the first time since December 2023. Carrick might just be the saviour of Man United.
Derek’s FPL draft recommendation Barry (9) has been on a tear lately, scoring 31 points in the past 5 matches. Haaland has only scored 13 points during that period and just had a 17 minute appearance against Wolves this week. Wtf?
Duy’s Duzor (GW 45 / 2nd, Total 1,237 / 2nd)
Duy is back on Joao Pedro (12) and it was the best transfer in the Baddy League this week.
Anderson (5) continues his run of honest work and Rogers (8) gets his first big return in 6 weeks.
Donnarumma (8) delivered a clean sheet, yet Pickford (3) is still the highest scoring (103) and averaging (4.5/match) goalkeeper this season. How does Pickford keep doing it season after season?
Dan’s A-Cunha Matata (GW 37 / Last, Total 1,209 / 3rd)
Dan transferred out his team mascot Cunha (9) and immediately got punished for it. It wasn’t all bad as new recruits B. Fernandes (5) and Semenyo (8) both returned.
It is Dan’s 10 week anniversary of owning Minteh (1) and the highest score Minteh achieved during that period is 4 points.
Sandra’s SZ (GW 42 / 3rd, Total 1,208 / 4th)
Wilson (10) has been a great budget enabler for Sandra since she transferred him in after that 16 point performance on her free hit eight weeks ago.
Sandra finally gets the best of Van de Ven (7) by persistently fielding him every week. She’s doing herself a favour when she has two Brentford defenders on the bench who don’t even play 60 minutes, saving herself a headache on who to field every week.
I still can’t believe Sandra transferred in Ekitike (1) two weeks ago for Watkins (8). Ekitike didn’t even play 60 minutes this week. Derek and Duy are the only two managers to anti-differential Ekitike in the Baddy League and they’re the top two managers. Coincidence? I think not.
Brian’s The Liabilities (GW 48 / 1st, Total 1,198 / 5th)
Brian appears to have had a great run of transfers. Wilson (10) this week, Bruno G. before he scored 31 points in three weeks, and Wirtz last week for an immediate 10 pointer.
The more I analyse his moves, the more I realise that he’s deceptively been pinballing between the same players.
From Wilson to Cherki in GW 20 and Cherki back to Wilson in GW 23.
From Chalobah to Dorgu in GW 20 and Dorgu back to Chalobah in GW 22.
Keven’s The Assets (GW 40 / 5th, Total 1,179 / Last)
I had full faith in Man United this week and took an eight point hit to bring in Mbeumo (10) and B. Fernandes (5) against Arsenal. It’s a shame I’ve also tripled up on Arsenal defence.
Bless up,
Keven
