FPL GW 28: All Skill, Zero Luck

Captaincy Corner

FPL really is a game of all skill, aye?

Haaland (DNP) in a week where only Derek and Sandra captained him.

Derek benefitted from Bruno VC (26) while Sandra opted with Thiago VC (12). Just goes to show that VC selections do matter.

So glad that Derek got the same reward as me straight captaining Bruno (26). Feels great.

Even when Duy wins he loses. Captaining Ekitike (30) and being the only non-Haaland owner should have felt better than losing ground to Derek by 12 points. Derek’s lead is over 100 points again btw.

Dan went with the sneaky differential in Semenyo (16) which kinda delivered, but also kinda disappointed compared to the popular picks this week.

Brian left the armband on Joao Pedro (4) and colour me shocked, he did not return against Arsenal. And that ends Joao Pedro’s run of scoring 7+ points six gameweeks in a row.

Derek’s Cole Fired Power (GW 81 / 2nd, Total 1,670 / 1st)

One poor week and Derek immediately nails his next transfers.

New recruits Wilson (12) and Semenyo (8) return straight away, but Munoz (1) was a bit of a miss.

Going from Timber (8) to Munoz (1) was certainly an interesting choice. From one player who doesn’t play GW31… to another player who doesn’t play GW31?

Derek currently has 3 City, 2 Arsenal, 1 Palace, Reinildo and Guiu, totalling 8 players out for GW31. Looks like he is sending a signal to us that he will be Free Hitting that week, unless he uses wildcard beforehand.

Let’s not copy the same strategy as Derek so we can try and catch up. One can dream – Duy, you got this.

Duy’s Duzor (GW 69 / 4th, Total 1,562 / 2nd)

As it turns out, wildcarding last week into triple Chelsea before they faced Arsenal was not ideal. Duy already dropped Chalobah (1) for O’Reilly (6) this week.

Duy is only double United at the moment with Mbeumo (2) and Shaw (1). Owning Palmer (1) over Bruno (13) was a bit of a double whammy. At least Man United won and Chelsea lost, I guess?

Keven’s The Assets (GW 82 / 1st, Total 1,528 / 3rd)

FPL focused writing and I’ve recovered from last into third. While some managers zigged with Wilson (12), I zagged with Dango (5) and Rayan (2). Darn, that did not work out.

I finally picked up Hill (2) after speaking about him multiple times on the newsletter and of course Bournemouth concede against Sunderland. It was written in the stars. So glad I had double Bournemouth defence and so glad I transferred Timber (8) out for this.

I’m pretty sure you guys cursed Mukiele (DNP) after transferring him in. I’m currently still stuck with him on the bench.

Sandra’s SZ (GW 78 / 3rd, Total 1,525 / 4th) (Wildcard)

Anderson (1) doesn’t get defensive contribution points for the first time in 17 gameweeks, right after Duy transferred him out on his wildcard and Sandra transferred him in on her wildcard.

I’m pretty sure Sandra is cursing all these players, including Mukiele last week. She also currently has 5 yellow flags and it’s only been one week since her wildcard.

Oh wait, there’s more. Kelleher (DNP) had to take the week off due to partner giving birth. Why focus on xG when we need to focus on xBirth.

The one week you need Dubravka to cover for you? Concede four goals and return 0 points.

And I just figured out why Bournemouth conceded this week; it’s because Sandra transferred in Hill (2), ending his 5 week streak of returning 6+ points.

Could you please let me know who you’re transferring in next so I know who to avoid, thanks.

Dan’s A-Cunha Matata (GW 62 / 5th, Total 1,492 / 5th)

Dan seems unbelievably loyal to his players. Once he transfers someone in, it feels like he’s going to hold them for a long time, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health. He’s had Andersen (DNP) since gameweek 1, and I feel like that’s one of the more niche picks to hold all season, compared to the likes of Dubravka and Haaland.

You know it’s a difficult week when Esteve (0) comes on field of all people (held since gameweek 17). Dan is still with L. Miley (DNP) (held since gameweek 19 and he hasn’t played a single minute in the last 5 gameweeks) and Madueke (DNP) who I thought was just meant to be a punt for Arsenal DGW 26.

He actually had a donut on field this week with Haaland, oof.

Brian’s The Liabilities (GW 62 / 5th, Total 1,484 / Last)

I joke about Sandra cursing her players, but it also feels like Brian does the same. Thanks for also transferring in Mukiele, appreciate it.

Brian transferred in Roefs (2) on wildcard three weeks ago, and he’s gone ahead and scored 2, 1 and 2 points since. Rumours also say he’s apparently injured, so we’ll see how true those rumours are soon enough.

Both of us transferred in Rayan (2) last week after he returned three weeks in a row, and he’s gone ahead and blanked two weeks in a row. Lovely.

Could you please also let me know who you’re transferring in next so I know who to avoid, thanks.

Bless up,

Keven
