FPL GW 3: Haaland Globetrotters

Heading into GW3, Man City had a tasty fixture against Coventry, midweek games haven’t started yet which meant fewer player rotations, and Coventry didn’t have experience defending a striker of Haaland’s quality. 

3 managers in the Baddy League (Derek, Duy and Sandra) saw this as a great opportunity to triple captain Haaland for 27 (9 x 3) points. Not an incredible performance like Bruno last GW, but still a solid result. 

Derek's Lacroix-ing out loud (GW 64 / 2nd, Total 238 / 1st) (Triple Captain) 

The most transferred move by the whole FPL population was Mbeumo to Cherki. Knees steady, Derek held onto Mbeumo for 8 points, while Sandra rolled with the masses for Cherki’s 3 points. While Derek earned more points, Sandra earned more budget. Maybe this budgetary increase for Sandra will pay dividends later in the season for a nicer bench boost. 

Brobbey (2) continues to rob points from Derek, and Neco Williams (7) was a great selection as the only Forest player in the Baddy League. 

Duy's Duzor (GW 67 / 1st, Total 222 / 2nd) (Triple Captain) 

Duy hasn’t opted for the triple Forest setup again to start the season, instead focusing on teams with a greater likelihood of success. Triple Man City, triple Man United, double Chelsea and double Arsenal, Duy has the most players selected from the big 6. 

Villa held a clean sheet against Hull so Duy could Cash in on 6 points, but how about that Hull defence. They haven’t conceded a goal yet in 3 matches. It will be a tough ask this week against Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea, who have scored a goal within the first 5 minutes of every match so far. Unstoppable force meets brick wall. 

Dan's New team 9 (GW 46 / 5th, Total 216 / 3rd) 

Dan’s biggest challenge every gameweek is selecting which defenders to field out of plentiful options. Both his bench defenders in Ballard (4) and Shaw (4) did better than Calafiori (2), Maguire (2) and Ajer (2). 

Can’t blame Dan for not being able to forecast a Shaw assist in a match where Man United were unlucky to draw against not just one, but two insane Everton goals. Ballard also had an offside goal disallowed. 

Sandra's SZ (GW 59 / 3rd, Total 211 / 4th) (Triple Captain) 

Ballard’s goal being disallowed worked in Sandra’s favour because she transferred him out for De Cuyper (4). FPL introduced a rule change last season where they increased the number of free transfers you could hold from 2 to 5. Sandra is still operating on the maximum being 2 and it must be an exhilarating ride of highs and lows. 

I was also wrong to flame the Spurs because they drew against Forest, and now Kinsky (6) has the same number of total points as Verbruggen with 9 after 3 gameweeks. 

Keven's defconsistent (GW 41 / Last, Total 197 / 5th)

Always just cap Haaland, never get fancy. Well, I got fancy and capped Bruno for 4 points and deservedly tumbled down the standings. 

My only saving grace is my MaScott scoring 2 assists and 10 points. The man isn’t even getting defcon points as per my strategy; he’s straight up scoring goals and assists. What a stroke of luck. 

Brian's BurnBabyBurn (GW 56 / 4th, Total 176 / Last) 

Brian outsmarted the general FPL population by holding onto Mbeumo (8), but he still lost to Cherki. 

Van Hecke (8) crows my statement from last gameweek that Spurs are fighting relegation again. My apologies Spurs, they’re actually fighting for top 4 after this week’s clean sheet.
